deadman

deadman susikūrė Nagojoje 2000m. pabaigoje iš glaudžiai susietų grupių Lamiel ir kein, kurios buvo įsitvirtinusios Nagojos visual kei scenoje. Mako (vokalas), aie (gitara) ir yukino (bosinė gitara), visi buvę kein nariai, o prie jų prisidėjo Toki (būgnai) iš Lamiel. Tai buvo pirmoji jų sudėtis. Labai greitai, po jų pirmojo CD pasirodymo, yukino paliko grupę, kad galėtų suburti naują, taigi jo vietą užėmė naujas bosistas - Takamasa. Bet po kiek laiko Takamasa taip pat nusprendė palikti grupę ir į jo vietą stojo Kazuya.

~ On recording "No alternative" ~

- Did anything unusual or funny happen during the recording?
aie: We don't really have such episodes, right?
Mako: We usually sleep when we're done recording our part.
aie: Yes, and the people who are recording are told to shut up!
all: (laugh)
Takamasa: But the girl...
aie: Oh yes, the girl we invited for the first song was a stubborn child, she didn't want to sing... We were waiting [for her to sing] for six hours.
Takamasa: That was the most time we spent on a song for the album. (laughs)
Mako: In the end, she didn't sing at all...
aie: So we had to ask another child. [...]
aie: I got stuck with "In media" because I couldn't play it properly. I hadn't practiced before the recording - I thought we'd been playing it so long, it's not necessary. So when it came to recording the song, I was suffering a lot. (laughs) The others said it sounds OK, but I just couldn't get satisfied. I was playing for hours, but not even one second got recorded. In the end I asked myself how on earth I had been able to play it earlier at all. On the way home from the studio I started thinking, "If I died now in an accident, the original version would go on the CD. That would also be a solution..." (laughs)

~ On rock music ~

aie: Ever since we formed the band I've always said that we were a rock band, although nobody says that about us. Now I feel that we've opened the gate to rock music. [goes on talking about a session] It feels like we've opened the door to rock music.
Takamasa: It was a gate before - it's getting smaller.



~ On the trip to LA ~

aie: We stayed 5 days (3 nights) for the photo shooting - we really didn't do anything else. At 6 am we put on our makeup and at dusk we washed it off. Then we slept a little and then next morning put on makeup again. My eyes were swollen in the morning so while I was putting on my makeup I was really hoping that it would go away! (laughs)
Takamasa: For me it was the first time to fly!
aie: He was totally nervous before the flight and asked questions like "Are there vending machines in the plane?" "How about toilets?"
Takamasa: Because I didn't know anything about flying! But after getting on the plane I calmed down.
all: No, you didn't! (laugh) [...]
Takamasa: Only the weather didn't fit... (laughs)
Toki: It was in the middle of summer with 40 degrees. (laughs)
aie: Yes... we didn't know how the weather would be, so we all brought completely different clothes. Takamasa was in a tank top, Toki in a shirt, I was in a jacket, and Mako in a coat. (laughs)
Mako: My outfit was the most out of place... I was burning jirijiri. (laughs)

Takamasa: I was in a tank top, so my skin was also all jirijiri from the pains of sunburn.



~ Takaman ;__; ~

Takamasa: Deep inside their hearts they surely don't accept me as a band member. They all think, "Who's this guy?!"...

Talking about his outfit during the "Amefuri no himawari" period:
Takamasa: I was asked by many people about this image, but even when I explained they didn't understand it. The band members neither... So I do have a concept about this outfit but I wouldn't like to talk about it. (laughs)
aie: I asked him if he was a pirate, like in Pirates of the Cabir... Cabirrean? (laughs)
Toki: "Cabirrean"? (laughs)
aie: It feels like "Cabirrean"... (laughs)

aie: Well, since "Pirate" in the title means "one pirate" [*sorry aie, it's "Pirates" ^^], it's ok if only Takamasa looks like that. (laughs)

Discussing the meaning of "Blut":
- It's the German word for "blood", but according to the dictionary it can also mean "blood lineage" or "of aristocratic family".
Takamasa: It's in German?
aie: Yes.
Takamasa: Vow...

Discussing "Taion" - Mako is telling the interviewer that it's not a love song:
Mako: This song is about existence as a whole. If you want to feel the existence of every living being, you need some kind of a connection. Living beings you see on tv are also alive, but it's just a lifeless document... What's a love song anyway?
Takamasa: Kawamura Ryuichi?



~ About the title "degreeds centigrade" ~

aie: We just added "d" because of "deadman". [* o_O] We made up this word, so please don't write it like this in your English exam. If you made this mistake, show the CD to the teacher. We'll take responsibility.
Takamasa: No, we won't! Will you go and apologize to the teacher?
Toki: I will, I will!
aie: Send us the test papers. I will mark the answer as correct. [...] And don't forget to put your purikura on it.
- Even male fans?
aie: Yes.
Takamasa: In the case of boys, let's see who can make the funniest face.
